Church on mission is definitely a buzz-phrase that is everywhere these days. The fact that we need to title places of worship, missional, has since the beginning of creation been somewhat weird to me. come on, shouldnt all places of worship be missional in their very essence? it should be expected from a church, at its very essence, desire to introduce their culture and neighborhood with the good news as a missionary would in a foreign country? Isnt this what the church buildings is commanded to do in the final charge of Christ in Matthew 28:19? Our own local area needs this brand of church. Churches in Austin is slowly moving to what our God instructed in Scripture.
Jesus gives the direction in Acts 1:8 saying, “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” Acts 1:8 justifies this subject as, right before Jesus Christ ascends to Heaven, He sends the disciples on a journey that would launch right in their local community. He begins with their area of Jerusalem, and then enlarges the call to the far parts of the creation.
As followers of Christ, we are not motivated to social clubs, but to be missional believers who are aggressively going out and meeting people right where they are with the message of Jesus. We have observed this throughout history: God motivated Abraham on a mission to exit his city and his people and go to the city that God would show him (Gen. 12:1), God urges Moses on a journey to save an enslaved people and lead them to joy (Exodus 3:8-10), God urges Jesus on a exploration to earth to reconcile all things to Himself through the cross (Colossians 1:20). And now God is sending us on a journey to engage communities, cities, ethnicities, and even nations with the gospel(Matt. 28:19 Mark 6:7 Luke 10:1 John 20:21 Acts 1:8). If we reject this motivation and continue to treat the churches like a private country club ” requesting that people clean up their performance, pay their money, and walk to our sanctuary God will continue His story without us.

We’ve done the really fun stuff. The really fun stuff is Tara, Vajra Yogini, these delightfully beautiful maidens and men that are so sublime. One of the problems of these loving practices is that we tend to want to say, “Okay, that’s heaven.” In other words, our fascination with elegant and sublime nobility makes us want to move towards that pleasure, but not accept pain. Or accept that change is there also. It doesn’t even have to be and we’ve talked about this in The Everyday Sanyasin course you don’t have to suffer with pain.
So what it really comes down to is, I’m going to project this idealistic, idyllic atmosphere in everything and that’s the ascended masters, that’s heaven, and that’s beyond the physical. And then there’s me, and I’m part physical, and I’m part in there, but all I really want to do is just die so I can be with the ascended masters.
That’s a very Christian point of view that is also embedded in Vedic practice. It’s embedded in Buddhist practice. It is, I think, an aspect of human psyche. This is really cool to realize, “Wow, it’s an aspect of human psyche.” With the Wrathful Deity practice, with a practice with an image that is change, that embodies change, I’m opening up to the ability to be creative with whatever happens.
Earlier, in the series on The Everyday Sanyasin, we talked about renunciation. We talked about the fact that the Everyday Sanyasin is accepting everything that happens as the Beginning Point of Creation. Every instant is Creation coming into being, and the Everyday Sanyasin is creating, as a Co-Creator, in that instant.
We went so far as to say that if you’re trying to deny what’s happening, then you can’t be creative with it, because you’ve denied. If I’m saying, “Well, I don’t see that over there, I don’t see the little green man over there sitting on the chair,” then first of all, I can’t get any wisdom from him. I can’t find out why he appeared. I can’t find out why he’s there. I can’t create with him. He can’t turn into a beautiful woman and dance with me.

Happiness is the state of feeling content. Are you happy? Can you honestly say that you’re content at all times? Or, could it be that you are an emotional roller coaster: happy when things go according to your way; and sad, frustrated or mad when they’re not?
You only need to do a Google search to realize how many people are clamoring for true happiness. There are multitudes of tomes, courses and mental techniques about how to obtain true happiness. What comes to mind when someone asks you if you’re happy? Peace, a perfectly compatible mate, surrounded by like-minded people in a perfectly peaceful world? Maybe it’s the wish you could master all your emotions to the point where you can “tune out” all the chaos in the world around you and be in total control of your inner peace and happiness no matter what your circumstances?
You have a God-given mind to reason with, learn a trade, and understand the world around you. Then there are the “sages” and “experts” who have tried, tested and shared the “truths.” Yet, the wisdom of man is finite. Only God’s Wisdom is infinite! He tells you that His thoughts are not like your thoughts, neither are your ways His ways. (Isa. 55:8) He says that “you shall go out with joy and be let forth with peace: the mountains and the hills shall break forth before you into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands. Instead of the thorn shall come up the fir tree, and instead of the brier shall come up the myrtle tree: and it shall be to the Lord for a name, for an everlasting sign that shall not be cut off.” (Isa. 55:12-13)
Now that’s only one of His many promises of happiness. It’s so much more than a definition or direction. It’s His assurance that, even if you started out in life as a “thorn,” in His strength and with His grace you will grow up as a tall fir tree. In the previous chapter He says that the mountains shall depart, and the hills be removed; but His kindness shall not depart from you, neither shall the covenant of His peace be removed. But He does not stop there. You will also be established in righteousness. As well, you will be far from oppression as you shall not fear, and from terror; for it shall not come near you! Chapter 24 ends with “No weapon that is formed against you shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against you in judgment you shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is of me, says the Lord.”
Therefore, if God be for you, who can be against you? He is the One who fights your battles for you, protects you, provides for you and heals you. He tells you specifically that you shall not fear. That’s more than a promise; it’s an absolute fact! He did not say “you will be,” as some time in the future you might get there. No! “shall” is a statement of fact; a done deal! Why? Because the closer you stick with Him and obey His commandments, the greater your faith shall grow and fear, being the opposite of faith, will no longer have any hold over you!
Now if that’s not perfect happiness, then I don’t know what is! There will always be trials and temptations, regardless of how many mind gymnastics you do or how many “how-to” books you read. But… if you dwell in the secret place of the most High, you shall abide (there’s that word “shall” again!) under the shadow of the Almighty. You shall call upon Him, and He will answer you: He will be with you in trouble; He will deliver you, and honor you. With long life will He satisfy you, and show you His salvation. (Ps. 91: 1,2,15,16)
Bless you and be perfectly happy in the assurance that you have a heavenly Father who cares for you in every aspect of your life!

This is perhaps the most often asked question heard in
connection with the second coming, at least for Americans. It a
reasonable question for any North American to ask, but it is far
from easy to answer. I would be remiss if I were to say that the
Bible expressly names America in any passage from Genesis to
Revelation. That some passages may refer to America is very
possible but not provable and that is the very kind of
conjecture I will not entertain.
Naturally all the events surrounding the second coming of Christ
are global or universal in nature so they necessarily include
the United States. That the antichrist rules America for the
same short period he rules the rest of the world is covered in
Revelation 13:7. How he gets this powerful and fiercely
independent nation to cow to his will is probably the more
interesting question to try to answer.
Some people believe that America will be forced to comply with
antichrist after an invasion of our shores by a great Eurasian
pact of nations. Mostly, the invasion idea stems from the vision
of George Washington. In that vision it is said that Washington
told this story to his aide who in turn told it to someone else
just before he died at about the time of the civil war.
Washington was told that three great calamities would befall the
nation. Starting with the revolutionary war, following that the
civil war and finally some future war where America would be
invaded. My learned opinion of this vision is, “who knows?”
That America would require force to he pushed into the rule of
the antichrist is easy to believe but the force in question
could be of a different nature. The remaining two views of how
the United States is forced into the final pact of nations are
probably more tenable.
The antichrist does not act alone but he is aided by one the
scripture refers to as the false prophet. Rev. 16:13. 19:20.
20:10 We know little about who this person is today, hut what is
known about him is that he doesn’t come from the same region,
country and perhaps even the same hemisphere as the antichrist.
The antichrist rises up from out of the sea according to Rev.
13:1.
The false prophet rises up out of the land. Rev. 13:1 1-16. The
antichrist rules from the revived Roman Empire or The European
Union. Where the false prophet is stationed exactly is not known
but some think it will be America. This of course is
speculative, even though it is very possible. The false prophet
will probably not be connected to any religion, but it is most
likely he will be a political figure or a minister of science.
What he is may he uncertain, but the influence he wields over
the world is not. He is able to produce signs in the heavens and
draw fire down from heaven at will. Whether he does this
supernaturally through the aide of the devil or engages some
star wars type pyrotechnical display is also not known.
What is known is that his antics are very successful in
persuading the people on earth to give antichrist both credence
and rule. Some biblical scholars have thought that he could come
from America and while this is not known for sure, it gives rise
to the idea that America will he assuaged to join with
antichrist by his direct influence. But again, while it is very
possible, it is still only conjectural at this time. A third and
perhaps a far more likely scenario is that America will undergo
a collapse of all of its markets and financial institutions.
Following a collapse, a desperate nation may seek to join with
antichrist’s emerging economic systems that will be so
successful throughout much of the rest of the world at that
time. Not long ago I asked some people the question, what do you
think would be the most disastrous thing that could happen to
America and what would change its nature significantly, an all
out invasion of our shores or a complete and pervasive financial
collapse? The majority answered that it obviously would be the
collapse of our economy.
America is in the long stretch of the good times. We have many
years between us and the dust bowl days and the stock market
crash of twenty nine. World War Two is also far behind and the
post war boom has become a post war glut. Any people that might
decide to invade the shores of this powerful and fiercely proud
nation would be in great peril. But take away what Americans
really love, their affluence, money and material blessings and
you could make them dance to just about any tune. This is the
theorem that when applied to the question of how America joins
the great evil new world order is the most believable, if not
the most likely.
If the compunction to have more, drives a few to fraud, robbery
and murder, then what will the lack of almost all consumer goods
do to this nation? If history teaches us anything, the answer to
this question is not a pretty one.

Talent is defined as: “Natural endowment or ability of a superior quality”. The word talent comes from a Greek word that also tells us about something of great value as described in Matthew 25:15-30.
Talent for artists is the skill and natural ability to create. It can be enhanced by training and practice. Being anointed is the very power of God that uses that talent to accomplish God’s purpose or plan.
In the scriptures the actual practice of anointing was to apply oil to a person or a thing. Anointing did have its uses for ordinary purposes such as with scented oils or protecting leather, and for medical purposes for the sick or the wounded (although not necessarily with oil).
Sacred anointing was to dedicate a thing or person to God. The oil symbolized the Holy Spirit, empowering them for a particular assignment in the service of God. “Messiah” from the Hebrew word “mashiah”, and Christ from the Greek “christos”, meaning “the anointed one” or the one who is empowered to do the assignment (in this case, redeem mankind back to God).
So what does this have to do with artists? God has given artists the raw talent to create. Again, training and practice help refine that talent. But when it comes to doing an assignment or accomplishing a task for God involving your creativity, it can ONLY be done with the empowerment from God working with the basic talent. No matter what level of natural skill and experience an artist has, they can not accomplish something of Kingdom value (God’ s plan) without yielding your talent to the Holy Spirit.
God uses His people in order to accomplish His plan. He especially uses the gifts and talents that he has to placed in you to accomplish a plan through you.
A biblical example of this can be seen in Exodus 31:1-11. God’s plan was to demonstrate that He is present and active with His people by living among them in the Tabernacle while they were in the wilderness. God wanted the Tabernacle to be designed, adorned and furnished in a specific way and was going to accomplish this through a creative team from among the Israelites that He selected. Although these artists had natural skill, ability, and know-how, they could not complete the task according to God’s plan unless they used the understanding and wisdom that the Spirit of God empowered them with (Exodus 31:3-4).
Anointed is further defined:
* Being able to do what you normally can’t do.
* When the super (the power of God) comes upon the natural (the talent).
An example of trying to accomplish a task with talent alone and no anointing is how the Israelites created the golden calf. The calf was created with artistic talent, skill, experience and ability to be used in a feast for the Lord (Exodus 32:5), but the anointing was not there. If these artists were making an effort to surrender themselves and their talent to the Spirit of God, I think they would have seen that this use of their talent did not please God, but rather was a sin against God.
So how does the talented artist flow in the anointing? The names of the two artists whom God used to head up the “Art Direction” of building the Tabernacle and the Ark of the Covenant help to remind us:
“Bezalel”- whose name means “in the shadow of El (God)”. You can not be in the shadow of God unless you are in the presence of God. Keeping regular quiet time with God keeps us in tune with the plan of God.
“Aholiab”- whose name means “Father’s Tent”, a man under authority. Obedient. As the Spirit of God reveals His direction for the use of your talent, you will be challenged to walk out the plan and obey.

Through my life I went through a number of years where I
experienced tremendous loss, rejection and abandonment. At that
time, my entire identity and sense of security came from 3
places, my faith and active church ministry which were deeply
rooted and precious, my family and my music teaching career.
In the space of just a few months, my church and marriage
simultaneously broke down. The parallels were uncanny. There was
a power struggle within the church that released shocking
ugliness and cruelty. The divisiveness within the church
manifested an equally destructive force within my marriage,
ultimately resulting in the utter destruction of both.
Suddenly, I had no husband, no home, no church family and since
much of my clientele came from the church, I lost most of my
business as well. By now, my identity was a single mom with two
little boys, on welfare, homeless and with no faith whatsoever.
All of this trauma changed me from the inside out. Post
traumatic stress, manic depression and anxiety all set in
simultaneously. Fear became my only constant. Consequently,
chronic insomnia caused by constant flashbacks and nightmares
also took hold, and wouldn’t let go. My nightmares involved
death, violence, and blood everywhere.
Interestingly enough, my therapist interpreted this as meaning
that I believed that my spirit had been killed by my own choices
and by others, and I now believed I was a dead soul inside of a
living body. Before moving on, I must state with great
conviction that my church related issues are not a reflection of
most churches. My childhood home Church is a powerful venue of
sincere teaching, worship and encouragement. The events of which
I spoke were isolated to one institution.
After several years on my own with my kids, making ends meet any
way I could, I did remarry.
Only after we were married did my new husband realize what he
had gotten himself into.
The next 5 years that followed were a living hell for both of us
I became irritable beyond belief, and I treated everyone around
me like an enemy.
I would seclude myself for weeks at a time which forced me to
stop working as well.
I became so addicted to benzodiazepines that I was taking 9 and
10 times the prescribed amount.
I displayed addictive behaviors which began to erode our
finances and obsessive compulsive behaviors which my husband
describes a “bizarre”.
My behavior was completely destructive to everyone around me and
suicide looked like the most heroic action.
My depression and anxiety became so unbearable that it literally
brought our marriage down to its last day. I was about to lose
my marriage for a second time.
However, instead of walking away, my husband, Steve, became
proactive and approached my psychiatrist himself with a complete
list of behaviors that he had witnessed and concerns that he had
about me.
Like many people who suffer from depression, I was basically
providing my psychiatrist with selective information in order to
obtain the drugs that made me feel a little better. I never
really thought that there was any real value in seeing a
psychiatrist for any purpose beyond that because I was convinced
that there was no help for me. This was how I was going to spend
the rest of my life.
Of course, I didn’t know it at the time, but Steve was already
on his way out of this marriage. Instead, however, just when
Steve was basically ready to walk away for good, he and I
decided together that we were going to do whatever it would take
to fix this problem.
Steve and I agreed that more drugs was not really the long term
answer for me, and we decided to explore alternate directions to
find healing.
Over the course of the next year, we worked with countless
doctors, psychiatrists, psychologists, hypnotherapists,
counselors, naturopaths and other experts.
We tried every pill, potion and concoction we could find,
natural and medical.
We watched videos, listened to tapes, attended seminars, read
books, had telephone consultations with “experts” and underwent
many tests.
Although there was some relief with a combination of some of the
things that we had tried, there was not enough relief to make
life bearable for either of us, or our family and friends.
As you can imagine, all of this became pretty expensive.
We ran out of money, and so we cashed in all of our investments.
When that money was gone, we sold our house.
When that money was gone, we began going into debt.
When the debt reached almost $100,000, we were again, left
without hope.
In the spring of 2004, however, my life changed forever! Through
some connections that my husband had made via his internet
businesses, we were able to learn from some of the world’s top
minds on personal development. I exposed myself to a whole new
world of possibilities by changing the way I was using my mind
to manifest the results in my life.
During a weekend workshop in Montreal, Canada with John Assaraf,
who is one of the world’s top experts on the brain and how it
works, I was able to come to understand the role of our belief
systems and our subconscious mind in our physical and mental
health. By understanding how the brain works, and how the
subconscious mind interacts with our bodies, I was able to learn
how to reprogram my subconscious mind in order to manifest
better mental health.
Although there was an instant change in me that day, I have been
able to apply the information which I was taught in that
workshop over the past 18 months and I have been able to
completely change my life around. My belief system now serves
and inspires me. I have given birth to new enthusiasm into my
music teaching, and I incorporate my newly found revelations
into the lessons to enhance and unleash learning and creativity.
I am writing original music which soothes and uplifts the soul.
I live each day in gratitude, happiness and faith.
My marriage, my family and my life have all been saved, and only
now am I discovering the truths which allow me to become more
than I ever thought possible, and definitely more than the sum
of my experiences.
I now feel compelled to give back and help others.
I have written an audio e-book entitled “A Path to Healing; A
Spiritual and Physiological guide to Victory over Depression and
Anxiety Disorders” The audio e-book is an autobiographical
account of my experiences with depression and anxiety, and a
detailed explanation of how I was able to turn my life around.
In addition, it contains live interviews with John Assaraf, the
man who helped me so much, and with Dr. Louis Cady of the Cady
Wellness Institute in Indiana. Dr. Cady is one of the nation’s
top authorities on depression and other mood disorders.
There is hope for the depressed mind!

CARLSBAD, CALIFORNIA: Anytime a well-known name gets involved with a spiritual approach, whether it is Madonna and Kabbalah, John Travolta and Tom Cruise with Scientology, or any other “name,” it creates buzz. But buzz alone doesn’t guarantee that something is the most effective approach.
Scientology contends that there are unresolved issues in your unconscious mind termed “engrams.” These engrams are created typically during times of high stress or even inherited from a past life. Unresolved emotional issues must be resolved according to Ron Hubbard’s (the founder of Scientology) philosophy by releasing all charge from them. Sound familiar?
This is obviously not a new, and certainly not a unique, concept. All esoteric traditions as well as indigenous shamanism contend that these negative issues outside of your conscious awareness must be released for you to step into your full capability and power. In fact, many esoteric and mystery schools suggest that a minimum of 51% of these issues must be resolved for you to actualize your full potential.
The difficulty with Scientology (with which I’ve had experience) is that, in my opinion, it’s too similar to traditional psychotherapy. Now don’t get me wrong… traditional psychotherapy works (unless you’re speaking of a medicated approach), but again, in my experience it is not the most efficient. In other words, it takes large amounts of time, personal agony and money.
The agonizing process I’m speaking of is the practice of reliving the issues over and over again until they are drained of their emotional charge. Again this works, but from personal experience, it’s not fun, comfortable or exciting to say the least. And it takes an inordinate amount of time and money! I remember leaving my Scientology auditing sessions being totally exhausted! (As well as much lighter in my wallet with many more multiples of sessions to go.)
My studies and experiences have taken me through about every change modality that exists, and I can say with confidence that they all work. That being said, there are some that are more elegant and rapid than others.
If you’re interested in fast-forwarding your results and growth in every area (while saving tons of time and money in the process) check out http://www.ThePowerToWin.com.
