What Does Astrology Mean in Society Today

If you consider astrology in the present day times, it has grown into a full-fledged business which is minting money for the astrologers. Each rising day witnesses the rise of new astrologers from absolutely nowhere. No offence please! This, though does not deny the fact that there do exist reliable and truthful astrologers, but the outlining reality that the fakers jeopardize the existence of the ‘trustworthy lot’ cannot be neglected at the same time.

Where astrology is concerned people often misinterpret palm reading, tarot card reading and all the like categories in the same category of astrology. Though, they are more or less same, yet differ to certain extent. All the fields mean to state the position of stars and their effects and the present life of people but they all study these aspects differently. So logically, they should be understood differently.

Astrology forms a part of everyday life for many people whether they admit it or not! Many of us don’t like being asked, “Do you really believe what comes in all those forecasts in newspapers or television?” So to avoid answering to all that we just say, “Not at all! I just read it for time pass.” But if we ask ourselves, this is really not true. Because to some extent or the other, we do believe the daily or weekly forecasts that appear in newspaper or magazine columns or being telecast on television. For many of us, the day starts with the daily forecast and many of us even plan the day accordingly.

But what is so shameful in admitting to it! It is the fact that there are many an astrologers these days, so to trust who becomes the big question. Though, we would agree to the saying ‘Ignorance is Bliss’ yet we are all keen to know what lies ahead- in the future and the very next moment! As a matter of fact, astrology is prospering as a business due to the blind faith that we show in all the astrologers; no matter who!

They have over 200,000 paying customers playing the Euro Millions, UK lottery and the Spanish lottery of which the Euro lottery is presumably the biggest lottery syndicate. Launched in 2002 and a long standing member of the lottery council they have all the credibly that is needed, as well as a excellent track record.

To play in an elottery syndicate you pay £5.00 weekly for the Uk Lottery and the Euro lottery with the Spanish Lotto costing £20 per month (Only monthly subscriptions). Being part of a e-lottery syndicate evidently shrinks your particular percentage but then it does increase your opportunities of winning plus because of the unique way the numbers are formulated the chances of winning the lottery is enhanced still further!

The business opportunity is another produced Virtual-world-direct offers and now they have shed the signing up fee and the annual subscriptions so anybody interest in making an extra income can capitalise. Global revenue is another motivator that rewards affiliates that attain a minimum level within e-lottery with a percentage of the companys international income.

Choosing Wedding Reception Table Linens

Today’s bride-to-be has numerous decisions to make regarding her wedding and reception. There is one decision that you will be confronted with that might seem insignificant, but in actuality, will set the spirit of your whole reception. This decision is in regards to the sort of table linens you are going to use.

Most brides-to-be choose colored table linens that complement the color of their wedding. Another option is to think about the theme of the wedding and utilize theme printed table linens. Whichever your choice may be, this is an important decision to make.

Buying or renting table linens from an online wholesaler can help make it simpler for you to decide. They make it simple for you to match the wedding reception table linens to the color or theme of the wedding because they can provide you with sample fabric swatches of the colors and fabrics used to make the table linens. Many couples decide to use these wholesale companies due to the fact that the costs can be a good deal easier on the wedding budget.

A word of caution: The wholesale company you pick should offer different types of table linens. This includes tablecloths, napkins, placemats, chair covers and table skirts. When you fill all your table linen needs from the same supplier you ensure that the colors and fabrics of the different linen products complement one another.

Don’t know how to start when it comes to deciding a theme for your wedding and then picking table linens to match the theme? Think about this. As a couple, you might share a particular hobby or interest that can be represented on the print of themed table linens. Perhaps you love Nascar, boating or hunting. Think about table linens with a design like Racing Check, Anchors Away or Camo. A wedding should be special and a reflection of you. Allow your imagination to go wild.

For a romantic setting, use candle light along with lace table linens, satin table linens or fine table linens made from a fanciful fabric such as Cascade, Monique or Pintuck. Use a sheer fabric table linen like Organza set atop a solid colored polyester tablecloth to create a layered look to the wedding tablecloths. Use coordinating napkins, placemats, table skirts and chair coverings to complement the look. Choose fabrics like Tissue Lame, Dazzle or Twinkle for your table linens. They will add sparkle to any wedding reception. The choices are truely unlimited.

When it comes to selecting the ideal table linens for your wedding reception it really comes down to personal style and taste. With a bit of imagination, you can turn your wedding reception into an event that many will think back on for years to come.

Euromillions plus Something You Might Not Know. How it Works, Who it Applies to plus How You Can You Play this Huge European Lotto

The Euromillions lottery was to begin with established by the national lotteries of the United Kingdom, France and Spain and was revealed in February 04. The original draw was on February 13th 2004 in Paris. The Spain, France and the United Kingdom were the only nations partaking in the beginning but lotteries from Luxembourg, Portugal, Switzerland, Austria, Belgium and Ireland also got involved in Oct-04.

The Euro millions lotto or the Euro lotto, as it’s ordinarily better-known, gathers the ticket revenues of the 9 partaking Euro countries delivering a immense Euro lottery “jackpot”. With the number of countries joining the Euro on the increase, this will without question will lead to new states participating in the Euro Millions lottery. An increase in the amount of people partaking in the Euro Lottery will lead to a continuing growth of the already gigantic Euro Lotto “jackpots”.

Q. How Would You Play The euromillions Lotto

Each and every player must select five main numbers from 1 to 50 and 2 Lucky-star numbers from one to nine. During the draw, five primary and 2 “lucky star” numbers are then picked out at random from two lotto draw machines containing numbered balls.

Euro Lottery Awards

The probability of scooping the European Lottery jackpot is a remote 1 : seventy six million but the chances of acquiring a cash prize is a somewhat decent one : 24. If the jackpot is not won on a given week, it is carried over to the following lotto draw that will result in an ever increasing jack-pot value. New rules added on the 09 February 2007 specify the number of consecutive “roll-overs” to eleven, with the jack-pot rolled out to smaller prize levels succeeding the 11th draw when the prize is not collected.

The new regulations likewise initiated European “Super Draw” which go on twice annually and offer “jackpots” in the region of £100 million. The difference with Super-Draws is that the “jackpot” has to be won during the week of the draw; this means, if there is no lotto ticket corresponding, all the drawn numbers then the top prize will then be distributed to the lotto ticket bearer(s) on the next winning prize tier.

Festivus for the Rest of Us - How to Celebrate The Alternative Holiday

Festivus was created by Frank Costanza, George’s father on the
long-running hit sitcom “Seinfeld”. As the story goes, Frank was
shopping for a doll for George’s Christmas gift many years ago,
and finally found one - only to get into a physical altercation
with another man who also wanted the doll. The doll was ruined,
but from this unpleasantness a new holiday was born: Festivus.
For the rest of us.

Created as a non-denominational
holiday to counter the commercialization of Christmas, Festivus
is decidedly simple and can be a great way to celebrate
something different with friends and family. It is traditionally
celebrated on December 23rd, but many people host their
gatherings earlier in December for maximum turnout. The
traditions are not time-consuming, there are no gifts to buy or
wrap, no decor problems will arise, and you won’t need to slave
over a hot stove for days in anticipation of an elaborate
dinner. Want to know how to take part in this glorious holiday?
Let’s dig in!

The Festivus Pole
There is
only one item that you’ll need to pick up to prepare your home
for the Festivus celebration - the Festivus Pole. Intended to be
the exact opposite of an ornately decorated Christmas tree, the
Festivus Pole is a single, bare, aluminum pole devoid of any
ornamentation.

Pick up your aluminum pole and stand it
up in the room where your Festivus celebration will take place.
It should be tall, hollow, and heavy. That’s it, that’s all
there is to it. No lights, no ornaments, and especially no
tinsel - Frank Costanza finds tinsel distracting.

Festivus Dinner
The rule for Festivus dinner is that
you may not serve turkey, ham, duck, Cornish hen, or anything
resembling an actual Christmas dinner. Think pasta, meatloaf,
Hamburger Helper - anything that screams home cooked comfort
food. There should be no gelatin salads, no radish roses, no
candied yams or glazed carrots. Just plain old,
stick-to-your-ribs, carbohydrate loaded culinary goodness.

Alcohol is optional. If you do serve wine with dinner,
anything pink, sparkly, and preferably from a box is a perfect
accompaniment to your Festivus meal. Domestic beer would also be
a good choice.

The Airing of Grievances
The
Airing of Grievances traditionally takes place during the
Festivus dinner. Each person at the table shares with the others
all the ways they have disappointed them over the past year.

In recent years, The Airing of Grievances has taken on
a slightly more global approach, in which each person airs
grievances about anything and everything that has annoyed them
since the last celebration. This could be the best route to take
if you think your gathering will turn personal and ugly with the
true Airing of Grievances, although to be authentic, you should
stick with tradition.

Feats of Strength

Following the Festivus dinner and The Airing of Grievances, the
Festivus host will introduce the Feats of Strength. The head of
the household now gets to test his physical strength against a
person in attendance of his own choosing. This honor is bestowed
on a different friend or family member each year, and can be
declined only if the chosen one has something better to do.

Festivus is not considered to be officially over until
the chosen combatant in the Feats of Strength challenge has
pinned the head of the household to the floor.

Try
Festivus, For the Rest of Us

If you’re tired of the
hustle and bustle that Christmas brings, or if you just want
something new and different to bring some relief from the
endless holiday planning, give Festivus a try! At the very
least, you’ll end up with some unique and special memories of
your relatives trying to grasp exactly what it is that you’re
celebrating.

Master puppeteer pays tribute to bubblegum music with Halloween marionette spectacular

Los Angeles- On October 7, four legendary artists will be
honored for their contributions to the under-appreciated genre
of bubblegum music at the 2nd biannual Bubblegum Achievement
Awards. The ceremony honoring Steve Barri (Lancelot Link), Ron
Dante (Archies - “Sugar Sugar”), Joey Levine (Ohio Express -
“Yummy Yummy Yummy”) and novelty DJ Dr. Demento will be preceded
by a spectacular new marionette show written and performed by
master puppeteer Bob Baker, who for more than 60 years has
amazed the kids of Los Angeles–and their parents–with his
inventive and exquisite creations, but who rarely performs at
his own theater.

Bob Baker’s puppets have performed for hundreds of film,
television and commercial clients, working with stars like Elvis
Presley, Judy Garland and the Three Stooges. For the Bubblegum
Awards show, Bob Baker dug deep into his massive collection of
rare record albums to find the perfect soundtrack to express the
horrors of Halloween and the giddy, silly pleasures of bubblegum.

Every Bob Baker puppet show has a show-stopping number, often
using black light to startling effect. For the Bubblegum Awards
show, Bob is creating a program that’s nothing but
show-stoppers, calibrated to keep the audience gasping from
start to finish. Among vignettes featured are a
bubblegum-powered dance of the gumdrops, an Asian-themed
umbrella ballet, a visit from a wacky spaceship brigade from
Venus, and an outrageous Monster Rally starring all of Bob’s
beloved ghoul, goblin, vampire and skeleton marionettes.

This special edition Bob Baker show has never been seen before,
and is being exclusively created to accompany the 2005 Bubblegum
Achievement Awards, on October 7 at Bob Baker’s Marionette
Theater in downtown Los Angeles. Other featured events include
the premiere of Kier-La Janisse’s documentary based on the book
“Bubblegum Music is the Naked Truth,” the presentation of dozens
of valuable raffle prizes, free cake and Bazooka bubblegum, and
live appearances by Canned Hamm, the Bubblegum Queen, Abram the
Safety Ape and the Archies’ Ron Dante.

Is NBC’s Reality Show ‘Meet Mr. Mom’ Out Of Touch With Reali

Is the latest reality series from NBC, “Meet Mr. Mom” out of touch with reality?

NBC describes the show this way. “Each week, moms from two different families are surprised with a luxury vacation, while the dads are left to manage their chaotic households. The results are funny, heartwarming and something every busy family can relate to!”

“The show did not reflect MY state of fatherhood, but I think it did portray what the majority of moms would tell you their spouse is like,” says Jim Morey, a father of four in Huntington Beach, Calif., in an interview with http://www.InteractiveDadMagazine.com.

But he says the fathers on the show clearly don’t reflect the lives of all dads. And certainly not his.

“This was not a valid portrayal of what a challenge it is to be involved with your kids and help your wife around the house on a daily basis - AFTER you get home from your job that pays the bills!” says Morey.

“Meet Mr. Mom”, the new reality series from NBC, has two fathers taking on their wives’ roles. In the premier episode Tuesday night, the moms were removed from the homes while the dads were left to fend for themselves.

Both dads were surprised at what it takes to do what their spouses do. And they seemed overwhelmed with the chores.

Morey, who’s been married 14 years, says he’s a very proud to say he’s an actively involved dad, unlike the fathers spotlighted in the NBC show.

He’s an Information Technology (IT) specialist. He says his employer is very family-friendly and allows him to work a schedule that enables him to be home by 2:30pm to spend quality time with his children. It also provides a break for his wife who stays at home.

“I have always tried to relieve my wife from the kids once I get home by getting the kids outdoors playing something with me,” says Morey. Usually he plays softball.

His children range in age from 12 to 4. He enjoys being a dad so much, he used his computer skills to create a website www.notbadforadad.com just to share the joys of fatherhood with other dads.

AN AT-HOME DAD POINT OF VIEW

“Times have changed… unless you’re talking about the popular media’s portrayal of dads staying at home,” says Stuart Ungar, from Louiseville, KY, founder of Louiseville At-Home Dads. He’s concerned that people will see dads as less capable then moms, which will reflect poorly on at-home fathers.

“Most at-home dads are all for pointing out the contributions of moms and drawing attention to the importance of a parent staying home when possible. It just shouldn’t be at the expense of dads who have consciously made the choice to be stay-at-home parents,” says Ungar, father of Aaron, 6 and Eden, 3.

“The problem is that many people tend to generalize that being at home with kids is naturally the mom’s job and that the dad is just a poor substitute,” he adds. He says the network reality series, Meet Mr. Mom, does everything to reinforce that.

“Insulting name for a real silly show,” says Ungar.

NBC’S TAKE

NBC acknowledges that before the show aired it received complaints from stay-at-home-dad groups concerned about how fathers were going to be portrayed.

The network today said it had not received any complaints since the program aired. NBC says the show gives everyone a better impression of at-home dads, because the show helps everyone appreciate the difficultly of being an at-home parent–no matter what the sex.

The network is proud of the show because it helps bring families closer together. And it gives both parents and the children a greater appreciation of one another.

LEARNING THE TOUGHEST WAY POSSIBLE

There were no cameras to chronicle what Jim Morey and his family experienced earlier this year. His wife’s mother was diagnosed with cancer, and he found himself taking on an even greater role in the home. Because while she cared for her mom, he cared for the children.

“It was during those four months that I truly became aware of how much work it is EVERY day to keep the family wheels running smoothly,” says Morey.

His mother-in-law lost her battle with cancer in April.

“I have always told my wife that even though I was the one with the “job” she works MUCH, MUCH harder than I do on a daily basis,” says Morey. “The 4 months… only reinforced that fact in my mind.”

“Meet Mr. Mom” is a 6-part reality show. It airs Tuesdays at 8:00pm ET on NBC.

What Makes a Movie Story Interesting? The Answer from Cognitive Psychology.

What makes a person find a story (or a story in a movie)
interesting?

This is Cognitive Psychology’s answer. Below is the abstract of
a study (with key phrases highlighted) published in the British
Journal of Psychology; Kim, Sung-il (1999), Causal bridging
inference: A cause of story interestingness.’ British Journal
of.Psychology, 90/1: 57-72.

“While the vast majority of previous studies on text processing
have focused on the structural importance of the text, the
affective variables, such as interest, have been ignored for
several decades. However, in recent years the concept of
interest has received increasing attention not only in the area
of text processing, but also of learning and memory in general
(Hidi & Baird, 1986; Renninger, Hidi & Krapp, 1992; Shirey &
Reynolds, 1988). Nevertheless, there is no theoretical model of
interest due to the lack of empirical study on the cause of
interest. The general purpose of this study is to investigate
the role of inference in story interestingness and to propose a
hypothetical model of interest.”

Interest as an affective (emotional/feeling) variable comes
about if the story requires you to think (make inferences).

Participants in the study were given two version of the same
story. An example of a story follows. See which version you find
more interesting.

Version 1: A newly wed bride had made clam chowder soup for
dinner and was waiting for her husband to come home. Although
she was not an experienced cook she had put everything into
making the soup. Finally, her husband came home, sat down to
dinner, and tried some of the soup. The poor woman swore she
would never cook for her husband again.

Version 2: A newly wed bride had made clam chowder soup for
dinner and was waiting for her husband to come home. Although
she was not an experienced cook she had put everything into
making the soup. Finally, her husband came home, sat down to
dinner, and tried some of the soup. He was totally
unappreciative of her efforts and even lost his temper about how
bad it tasted. The poor woman swore she would never cook for her
husband again.

Participants found Version 1 of the story to be more
interesting. The difference between the two versions is the
additional sentence in Version 2, “He was totally unappreciative
of her efforts and even lost his temper about how bad it
tasted”.

>From this study, we can further see how a story become too
involved. To make an inference requires having the necessary
contextual or background knowledge. If the audience lacks the
contextual or background knowledge to make the inference, than
that portion of the story is too involved. (Sometimes, the
contextual/background knowledge is culturally based. Hence, a
remake cannot always be a clone of the original.)

Even if the audience have the necessary knowledge to make the
inference, overdoing certain story telling techniques may render
the relationships between the ‘facts’ in a story too obscure.
This makes the story too terse. For example, with the contrast
technique, if the situations or events to be contrasted are
somehow too far apart in the rendition, that a relationship
exists between two or more story situations/events may not be
consciously perceived.

Sometimes, this terseness is delibrately done (as with teaching
tales) so that the inference lays dormant in the subconscious
until the time is ripe. Then, when the relationship/inference
suddenly comes to awareness, the “eureka” or “ah so” factor adds
its impact. (Feels like a revelation or the epiphany phenomena.)

Movies with a story that has meaningful premise and layered with
supporting subtexts, which is not too terse or involved in the
rendition tend to be well received by a broad spectrum of
people. (Off course, porn and violence based movies have their
audience.)

So if anything, (moderately) challenge the audience and the most
of the audience will respond. That’s how the brains are wired.
For most people at least.

premises and subtexts in stories from movies.
